Call AGP, ask for a PS at Chicago. You'll likely get a recording with press 1 for so-and-so, press 2 for so-and-so. Pick one, anyone. Leave a message saying you will be in town, give the date, and ask to make an appointment. Leave your number. You'll get a call back pretty fast.

Tell your PS you will be pressed for time. She'll help you with everything-- probably give you a tour of the store, help you find what you're looking for and help you avoid the crowds as much as possible.

I would absolutely go and absolutely get a PS-- PS are one of the perks of paying AG prices, enjoy it! Isn't there an Apple store right by AGPC? Maybe your husband can hang out there while you shop? Or maybe you could talk him into brunch Saturday or Sunday morning at the store and then he can disappear and you can shop for an hour?

Other option... how late are they open Friday? Maybe you could go after your conference and beat the worst of the weekend crowds?
